Teen Undergoes Gastric Bypass Surgery
ABC news reports on a 16-year old girl who underwent gastric bypass surgery or bariatric surgery. There was a lot of controversy with this surgery because of her age. She went from 368 pounds to 170 pounds losing 198 pounds. She went from an overeating, overweight, depressed girl to a healthy dieting and happier person. The psychological and health benefits are obvious, but the question remains, was she too young? How young is too young? Doctors are most concerned about the long term effects, she’s still a growing girl, and the procedure is practically impossible to reverse.
